Filing Your Homestead Exemption

How to File Your Homestead Exemption

The San Antonio Property Tax Season is approaching. This is a friendly reminder to submit your application for your homestead exemption.

If you purchased a home in 2020 you will need to fill out an application for a homestead exemption. There is no need to hire a third party to complete this process despite being solicited by companies that charge for this service. Do not take the bait.

You can simply complete and submit this form by the deadline (#50-114) to cs@bcad.org, along with the required ID and documentation. You only need to apply for this exemption once, but it’s a good idea to check with the Bexar County Appraisal District and confirm it remains in place each year. [WATCH] for more information.
