San Antonio is Military City USA. Home to Joint Base San Antonio, the military is an active part of the San Antonio economy. San Antonio has many active duty and retired military service members in its community. The city is home to the four-time NBA champion San Antonio Spurs and the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, one of the largest in the country. In April, San Antonio comes to a virtual standstill during Fiesta, celebrating with parades and community festivals.

San Antonio has a strong military presence — it is home to Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, Randolph Air Force Base- now commonly referred to as Joint Base San Antonio. Brooks City-Base, with Camp Bullis and Camp Stanley outside the city. Kelly Air Force Base operated out of San Antonio until 2001, when the airfield was transferred over to Lackland AFB and the remaining portions of the base became Port San Antonio, an industrial/business park. San Antonio is home to five Fortune 500 companies and the South Texas Medical Center, the only medical research and care provider in the South Texas region.

There are so many great neighborhoods to choose from when you're trying to decide where to live in San Antonio TX. A few neighborhoods within close proximity to Ft. Sam are Alamo Heights, Olmos Park, and Terrel Hills. This area is located inside Loop 410 is particularly desirable because it is centrally located to shopping, including Lincoln Heights and the Alamo Quarry Market.
