Views vary widely on the value of hiring a professional stager to prepare your home for sale. From our experience at the Real Estate Muses, using professional stagers such as Cheri Stith and Jamie Weyand, from Feather Fluff and Flings, gives buyers a positive sense of a home’s “livability”  and promotes a quicker sale!

Does my house need professional staging?

Hiring a professional stager is something to consider when listing your house for sale, especially if the property is vacant. Staging not only allows potential buyers to be “wowed” when they step in the door, but makes the property feel inviting! Visualizing the size and amount furniture that could fit in the space allows buyers to envision their own belongings filling the rooms.

What rooms are the most important to stage when selling a house?

Living Room

The living and entertaining areas should be bright and inviting! Try arranging the furniture to create conversation areas to allow buyers to envision entertaining guests. Outside of conversation area furniture, the use of smaller sofas and chairs makes rooms appear larger. And, artful placement of mirrors add depth and dimension.

Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home. It is where friends and family gather and entertain. And the reason why kitchens are a huge selling point for potential buyers. When staging a kitchen, simplicity is best; we want to be sure the space is free of clutter! Clearing countertops to showcase cooking prep space is key.  Trimming down items in your pantry and make sure all appliances are clean. These are a few important things to do in “staging” a kitchen.

Main Bedroom

When it comes to staging a master suite, the focal point should be the bed! Most importantly, you should make sure that the appropriate size furniture fills the room. Wether it be a full, queen, or king sized bed, this will frame the buyers mind on what and how much furniture can be placed inside the bedroom for best functionality. Staging tips when it come to bedding include using neutral tones on bed linens, adding layers of fluffy pillows, and making sure the room smells fresh! We want potential buyers to feel that the master bedroom is the most relaxing space in the home.

Does staging help the marketing of my property?

The answer is, yes! According to the National Association of Realtors, 95% of buyers are browsing properties online before they speak to an agent about setting up a property tour. This is why the photography and video tour elements of your listing are important!
